Land Acknowledgement

We, at Full of Life Counseling and Addiction Services PLLC, willingly acknowledge recognize and respect the land that we occupy, sit, and stand on in Connecticut and that it was colonized and stolen from its original inhabitants – the Indigenous Peoples which led to the present day Native American tribes, who are the original possessors and owners of this land. In Connecticut, we recognize the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation as rightful owners of their lands. We honor all past, present, and future Indigenous tribal communities in the area and pay our respects to the past ancestors who lost their lives fighting for what they believed. We stand in solidarity with them.

Message from the Clinical Director/CEO

Gevonna Worney has devoted more than thirty years to the disciplines of substance abuse and alcohol addiction. She is a retiree from the Connecticut Department of Correction, where she completed 23 years of distinguished service within the criminal justice prison system. Over the last eleven years of her tenure, Ms. Worney served as Counselor Supervisor and Unit Manager for a residential treatment program, where she was instrumental in developing a specialized addiction and recovery unit featuring Therapeutic Community components.

Following her retirement in 2011, Ms. Worney pursued further credentials, earning recognition as an Advanced Certified Intense Trauma Professional with expertise in PTSD. She holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. The doctoral leadership, education, and clinical tracks have enabled her to conduct dissertation research in Indigenous and Native American studies, focusing generational trauma and its impact on families affected by alcohol use, utilizing cultural humility theory as an evidence-based approach.

Her interest in Servant Leadership and Native American/Indigenous Trauma has led to the establishment of Full of Life Counseling and Addiction Services PLLC, an organization committed to providing addiction, health, and wellness services throughout Connecticut. The company aims to support marginalized, NA’s and BIPOC communities in healing from alcohol and illicit drug use. Backed by a team of seasoned professionals, Full of Life Counseling and Addiction Services PLLC is dedicated to delivering comprehensive care for alcohol, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.
